Why Mother's Day Means So Much To ME!

May 12, 2019

 (August 2015)

Mother's Day has to be one of my favorite holidays! Not because of the perks and the gifts but because I'm personally celebrating a life-changing moment in my life. Motherhood definitely changed the game for me in a major way. I was 18 years old freshman in college when I found out I was pregnant by my high school sweetheart and I'd just experienced my first college homecoming! Life was exciting and I was a fashionable silly teenager who didn't have a care in the world. I was such a daredevil/ goofball that when my family dropped me off for college they made sure they had a serious talk with me before they left... and for some reason, they kept saying "THIS IS NOT A GAME RAE!! YOU CAN'T BE PLAYING ALL THE TIME! COLLEGE IS SERIOUS!!"..lol..

 (Fall 2008)

I was so scared when I found out I was pregnant. I wasn't ready to be a mom, I didn't know ANYTHING about parenting or being responsible! I was still a teenager!! Keeping my child was one of the first biggest life-changing decisions I've ever made. I remember my Aunt basically telling me..." You can't run from things like this & no matter what your baby is a blessing! If you're not ready now ..when will you be?  You cant go through life opting out of hard times because you're afraid, not ready & most importantly afraid of what people might think...I will help you". I know it was God speaking through her now because He has told me that personally many times after. It's the same message He is trying to tell all of us when we are spiritually pregnant with talents, gifts, and ideas that He has given us! Sis you're pregnant for a reason don't let fear make you abort your calling & stop you from giving life to your destiny!!

(Mother's Day 2013, I graduated College on Mother's Day.. How Ironic)

I'm not perfect, I've made many mistakes in the past and I've struggled to get to where I am now. My children are my biggest blessings, when I look at them and the things I've pushed through to accomplish in order to be successful in life, I'm so thankful for my journey and everything that happened along the way.

Happy Mother's Day to all Mommies out there.. And to my unexpected 'Mommies to be' Have the baby sis!!"
